Youngstown State's Damian Eargle has been chosen as the StatSheet Horizon Player of the Week for the week ending February 6th. StatSheet's Horizon Freshman of the Week goes to Anton Grady from Cleveland State. And last but certainly not least, Detroit's Eli Holman has received StatSheet's Horizon 6th Man of the Week.
Eargle led the Horizon in blocked shots (4.0 per game). He also put up 50% shooting, 12 points per game, and 6 rebounds per game. The Youngstown State junior played well for the Penguins in wins versus Milwaukee and Loyola (Chicago) and a loss to UIC.
Eargle totaled 14 points and 3 blocked shots in 23 minutes in a 73-65 win over Milwaukee. That was followed by a team-leading 6 rebounds and an additional 7 blocked shots in a 72-68 loss to UIC. Finally, Eargle racked up 12 points and 5 rebounds, closing out the week with an 80-63 win over Loyola (Chicago).
This is the first StatSheet Horizon Player of the Week award for Damian Eargle. However, he has received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is Ashen Ward, a senior from Youngstown State. Honorable mention goes to sophomore Ray McCallum from Detroit. Ronald Nored, who finished 20th, was the highest ranking player from Butler.
